A chronic disease that affects the airways (the tubes that carry air in and out the lungs). An asthmatic inside walls of airways can become inflamed. The inflammation makes the airways very sensitive, and when they react, they cause the airways to get narrower and less air flows through to the lung tissue.
Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin. Insulin is a hormone that is needed to convert sugar, starches and other food into energy needed for daily life. There are two major types of diabetes, Type 1 (insulin not produced) and Type 2 (insulin not properly used).
